UNION BEACH MEMORIAL SCHOOL - SOLAR POWER PURCHASE AGREEMENTT

COMPLETION DATE: September 2001
CONSTRUCTION VALUE: $4M

As the Architect of Record for the Union Beach Board of Education, Settembrino Architects designed and managed a 500kW solar project for the Memorial School. Our team secured a $250,000 NJ Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) Grant which increased the savings to the District. The Board executed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with zero capital outlay. The roofmounted PV included approximately 10,000 square feet of new multi-ply roof as part of the PPA. Canopy mounts located over the parking lots and bus/parent dropoff areas provided value added components while reducing the annual cost of snow removal and provides protection from inclement weather. The total energy savings over 15 years will be approximately $1.5 million.

UNION BEACH MEMORIAL SCHOOL - GYMNASIUM RENOVATIONS

COMPLETION DATE: December 2010
CONSTRUCTION VALUE: $316K

The Union Beach Board of Education hired Settembrino Architects to design the renovations to the existing gymnasium. The existing multi-purpose flooring was in need of replacement due to worn areas and uneven surfaces. A new multi-purpose rubber flooring was installed with a custom designed logo of the school mascot. The room was also fitted with new acoustical treatments to reduce the echo and reverberation in the space. The walls received new acoustical panels located around the entire room perimeter. In addition to the wall treatment, ceiling mounted “wave” baffles were placed between the roof joists to further assist with the acoustics in the room. The lighting was replaced with high efficiency fixtures to provide an even illumination level on the gym floor.
